Architect | AECOM
I am an Architect AIBC currently with AECOM as a Architectural Technical Quality Manager, with over 10 years of experience working internationally in Hong Kong, China, the United States, and Canada, and I am also a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW, BCCSW) with 2 years of professional practice in hospital and community care. In BC, I involved NSWWTP My architectural career spans commercial developments, healthcare facilities, institutional projects, infrastructural architecture, interior design, urban design and community-driven design, while my social work experience includes medical social work at Royal Columbian Hospital and Queen’s Park Care Center, settlement services for new immigrant and indigious communication development.
In addition to professional practice and completion of my MArch & MSW, I have taught sociology at HKU SPACE Community College and provided job coaching as an RSW, experiences that have deepened my interest in mentoring and supporting students in their learning journeys. Recently, I founded MMOI Architecture Ltd., a practice that explores the integration of architectural design and social work, with a focus on healing spaces and socially responsive environments.
My main areas of interest include design theory, design thinking, high density living, urban renewal, infrastructural, healthcare, interdisciplinary design and social design. I am especially passionate about the intersection between architecture and social work, and how design can contribute to community well-being. Having completed international licensing processes (HKIA, AIBC, ExAC, and eligibility with RIBA etc.) and navigated the path of establishing a new practice, I hope to share my insights on professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and various career pathways both locally and internationally.
I look forward to mentoring students who are eager to explore innovative approaches to design and who wish to learn about the diverse career possibilities that span across architecture, social work, and community engagement. P.s I like mountain biking, community art and camping with my children.
