Healthcare Architect/Clinical Planner | HDR

“Architecture is not about buildings, it’s about people.”

This quote has stayed with me throughout my education and career, and it ultimately led me to specialize in healthcare architecture. Architecture has a profound impact on patient outcomes, and I’m continually fascinated by how we, as architects, can create environments that promote healing.

Over nearly a decade in the field, I’ve worn many hats—from underpinning buildings as a construction laborer to designing some of Canada’s largest hospitals as an architect. My educational journey began at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where I studied Architectural Science. I also spent a semester abroad in the Netherlands at TU Delft, participating in the Master of Architecture program. Shortly afterward, I pursued my M.Arch at UBC, using the opportunity to immerse myself in West Coast culture and explore the type of architecture I wanted to focus on.

I am currently a licensed architect in British Columbia and have been with HDR for over three years. During my career, I’ve had the privilege of working on a wide range of care-based facilities across North America, including long-term care homes, acute care hospitals, mental health facilities, and more. As a former student, I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate school, the industry, and licensure. I hope to offer guidance and support as you move forward in your education.
