Mika Ishizaki

Intern Architect | Urban Arts Architecture

Mika Ishizaki is an Intern Architect with four years of experience at Urban Arts Architecture, contributing to a diverse range of commercial, residential, and institutional projects of varying scales. A first-generation Japanese Canadian raised in both Tokyo and Victoria, Mika brings a multicultural perspective to her work and a strong interest in the relationship between people, place, and the built environment. Mika holds a Bachelor of Arts in History in Art and Urban Geography from the University of Victoria and a Master of Architecture from UBC's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA). During her studies, she also had the opportunity to study abroad at Lund University in Sweden, an experience that broadened her understanding of design, culture, and urbanism. As Chair of the WIA Vancouver Steering Committee, Mika is passionate about creating inclusive public spaces, fostering meaningful engagement with stakeholders and communities, and advocating for environments where women and marginalized groups feel safe, welcome, and represented. Outside of architecture, Mika enjoys playing the harp, writing, and exploring local trails with her dog, Mugi.
